READER PRIVACY

Privacy.

The Financial Current has no accounts, no newsletter sign-up, no advertising and no cookies of its own. This page lists what the site and the services it uses can see when you read it. Last updated October 13, 2026.

Kept in your browser

Saved articles, saved searches, collections, followed topics and organizations, visit markers, reading positions and display preferences are stored in your browser’s local storage on this device. They are not sent to the site and do not sync across devices. Clearing site data for thefinancialcurrent.com removes them.

The Listen button uses your browser’s built-in speech feature. The site sends nothing, but some browsers use their maker’s online voices, which send the text to that company.

Counts the site keeps

The site keeps aggregate counts in its own database. It does not store IP addresses, full browser user-agent strings, query strings, visitor IDs or cookies.

  • Page and activity counts from your browser: pageviews by page, day, broad referral category, broad device, browser and operating-system category, and city, region and country as supplied by Cloudflare; plus clicks, tool use, scroll depth and time-visible thresholds by page only. Daily rows and browser and operating-system totals currently have no automatic deletion date. Hourly totals are kept for 90 days and minute totals for 48 hours.
  • Server request counts: RSS and calendar fetches by reader app, with the subscriber number some feed services report; named search and AI crawlers and the pages they fetch; and pages that were not found, with the referring website’s hostname. These rows are deleted after about 180 days.
  • Official data searches: searches on the Regulations.gov tool are sent to Regulations.gov and cached briefly at the edge, not stored in the site’s database. Company and product filters on the CFPB complaint tool and SEC filer numbers are stored with the cached results from those official sources.

Browser counts are skipped when your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, when you choose the opt-out below, or when the browser looks automated. Server request counts for RSS feeds and crawlers do not check those signals; not-found counts do. Counts are private to the site owner.

Your visits

Checking this browser’s analytics preference… This preference stays on this browser and website origin; it does not identify you or erase past counts.

Other services

  • Cloudflare hosts the site and processes every request, including your IP address, to deliver pages and protect the service. Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookie-free page-performance beacon, loads only when your browser does not send Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control and you have not opted out. Cloudflare privacy policy.
  • TradingView supplies the market quote strip on the homepage and research library, and the SPY chart when you open it. Those load from TradingView’s servers, which receive your IP address, browser details and the page address, and TradingView may use its own cookies or storage. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, or you have opted out above, they wait until you choose to load them, and that choice lasts until you close the tab. TradingView privacy policy.

Links to sources and other websites take you to those sites, which have their own policies. Outbound links ask your browser to send only this site’s address, not the page you were reading.
