Analysis
The morning begins with a positive futures signal, although it cannot establish where cash stocks will open. Reuters’ earlier report described easing oil prices and Treasury yields as part of the backdrop; the scheduled trade release will add evidence about August exports and imports. [1, 2, 4]
October 6 snapshot: observed 7:53:13–7:53:14 a.m. EDT
These December 2026 equity-index futures observations were supplied by Interactive Brokers and retrieved at approximately 8:03 a.m. EDT. Every quote was marked delayed; its timestamp was about ten minutes before retrieval. The observation clocks differ by one second. Futures levels are distinct from the underlying cash indexes. [1]
All three contracts were higher on the provider’s reported change measure. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 responses did not supply a prior-close value, so their changes are reproduced as provider-reported rather than independently reconciled. The Dow response supplied a prior close of 51,558, consistent with its 356-point increase. These changes are not comparisons with Monday’s cash-index closing levels. [1]
| December 2026 contract | Level (index points) | Change (points and %) | October 6 observation (EDT) |

The overnight backdrop
In its report published at 6:27 a.m. EDT, Reuters described U.S. futures rising as oil prices and Treasury yields eased. Its futures observations were from 5:50 a.m. Eastern, earlier than the separate table above. The account points to a less pressured financing and energy backdrop, but does not prove what caused each later price move. [2]
Monday’s Nasdaq Composite closed at a record high, while the S&P 500 and Dow also advanced. These October 5 cash closes provide the prior-session reference; they are not current premarket prices. [3]
| Cash index | October 5 close | October 5 session change |
|---|---|---|
| S&P 500 | 7,773.95 | +0.66% |
| Dow Jones Industrial Average | 51,267.90 | +0.18% |
| Nasdaq Composite | 27,477.31 | +1.05% |
Tuesday’s scheduled releases
The Bureau of Economic Analysis schedules August U.S. International Trade in Goods and Services for 8:30 a.m. Eastern on October 6. It will report the value of exports and imports and the balance between them. This article does not contain an August result or a consensus estimate. [4]
The New York Fed’s calendar also lists its Global Supply Chain Pressure Index at 10 a.m. Eastern today. Scheduled publication times can change. [5]
Constellation Brands plans to publish its fiscal 2027 second-quarter results after the U.S. market closes today, covering the quarter ended August 31. Its conference call is scheduled for 8 a.m. Eastern on October 7. Those results have not been reported here. [6]
Elsewhere
Google and Constellation Energy announced plans for 890 MW of additional nuclear capacity. [7]
Session and data timing
The NYSE calendar checked October 6 lists a normal session, with the cash market opening at 9:30 a.m. Eastern and closing at 4 p.m. Eastern. This preview’s featured placement ends at the opening, at 13:30 UTC. [8]
Publication time is shown separately from the observation times above. The futures table, earlier Reuters report and October 5 cash closes are distinct dated snapshots, not a synchronized cross-market quote screen. The futures quotes came from a read-only market-data response; the provider link identifies the service and does not reproduce the saved snapshot. [1]
What remains uncertain
Delayed futures can change before the cash open. Provider-reported changes for ES and NQ were not independently reconciled to a supplied prior close. Scheduled releases may change, and the earnings discussion is a calendar item rather than reported results.
