The Parkersburg National Bank was a predecessor in United’s historical banking franchise.
United’s official leadership biography says Richard M. Adams became its president and CEO at age 29, when it was a single-office bank with about $100 million of assets. This historical institution should not be conflated with the establishment date of the surviving Virginia charter.
United Bank grew from a nineteenth-century Parkersburg franchise into a Mid-Atlantic and Southeast banking network. Acquisitions, commercial lending and deposit relationships explain its scale, while 2026 results and a dedicated government-contracting team show its next phase.
