Copeland supplies equipment and technologies for heating, cooling and refrigeration, including compressors and related controls. It became a standalone company following the 2023 sale of a majority interest in Emerson’s Climate Technologies business.
Emerson completed the sale of its remaining 40% common-equity interest to Blackstone-managed funds in August 2024. Copeland is the operating business, distinct from Emerson and the Blackstone investment manager.
Hilton’s long recovery and Copeland’s separation from Emerson show how Blackstone combines ownership, borrowing and operational change. Its enormous asset total now includes several businesses that are different from corporate buyouts.
