Consumer complaint explorer
Search published complaints, compare volume across periods, and inspect reported issues and company responses.
Reading the data
Complaints are consumer reports, not adjudicated findings or a representative sample. Counts are not adjusted for company size, customer base or market share. A low count does not establish an absence of harm.
The CFPB generally updates the database daily. Publication follows a company response confirming a commercial relationship, or 15 days, whichever comes first. Recent received-date periods can be incomplete and change as complaints are published. Complaints referred to other regulators—including those about depository institutions with less than $10 billion in assets—are excluded.
Dates filter when complaints were received, not when they were published. The comparison uses the immediately preceding period of equal calendar length with the same filters. Product labels retain the CFPB’s original taxonomy and can change over time. A timely response is not evidence of a satisfactory resolution. Source checks occur on demand, with successful results retained for up to six hours.
